Christmas Toy Drive

Special thanks to everyone who participated in the Milwaukie Elks Club Christmas Toy Drive! The local manger at Big 5 Sporting Goods deserves a “shout out” because gave me a great deal so we could buy more toys for the less fortunate children.

It was also a great experience for Danika. She picked toys she wanted and then have them away. Then a family member gave her the same present without any pre planning so she got to see what “paying it forward” is all about.

  1. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane! My Dad joined the Elks for the exact same reosan .the pool! My folks also were in a bowling league there the extent of their athleticism at the time. Aaron O’Brien and I used to play Horse and then walk over to Theiseen Rd. Store where the loser bought Nesbitt’s Orange and a 3 Musketters bar for the winner and himself. Mom also used to come home with a case of Shasta in all varieties. Cola, Lemon-Lime, Cream Soda, Root Beer, Black Cherry Cola, Orange, Grape. And in college, I used to get the poor-man’s Shasta from Safeway .Cragmont Cola. Mmmmm good!Baseball games always ended with that trip to A&W. These days, kids have snacks after practice. In our day, it was only after a game. Just one more thing leading to childhood obesity .
